Where should I look for Houston background work?

Start with the Texas Film Commission casting-call page and filter notices for a real Houston-area work location and dates. Its listings are statewide, not Houston-specific.

Can registering with a casting company guarantee Houston work?

No. Public company pages describe services or network profiles, not a booking or current opening. Follow project-specific instructions only.

What should I confirm before accepting a Houston booking?

Confirm the reporting address, call time, parking or transportation instructions, and written pay and work dates. A company based in Houston may be casting a project elsewhere in Texas.

Are Texas film-office casting calls Houston-only?

No. The board covers Texas. Check the location and dates in each notice and distinguish performer calls from crew or other production jobs.

Does Scene Seekers hire extras?

No. Scene Seekers is an independent informational guide and does not cast, hire or represent performers.

Background acting in Houston

Begin with Texas Film Commission casting calls and its actor guidance. Those are statewide resources; a Texas call may be far from Houston. Its actor page says applications use the email and recent photos specified in each notice, with report details supplied if hired.

GS Casting describes film, television, commercial, and branded casting from Houston. Covington Select offers a talent-network intake and describes background services across Texas from Houston headquarters. Follow a verified performer intake or project notice; a company service page is not a job application.

Getting started as a beginner

Check the Texas Job Hotline for current notices and apply only as the notice directs; use current photos and accurate contact details.
If hired, confirm pay and work dates in a written deal memo (work agreement) or contract, as the Texas Film Commission advises.
Treat talent-network registration as profile submission, not guaranteed consideration or employment.

Practical local considerations

A Houston-based company can cast projects elsewhere in Texas. Check each notice’s actual reporting location rather than using the company’s home base as the work location.
Confirm the reporting address, call time (required arrival time), parking or transit instructions, and whether you must arrange your own travel and lodging before accepting.
The Texas Film Commission’s directory of extras casting directors is a directory resource, not an active-job list.

Project-specific background calls

State Job Hotline notices may include casting calls, but verify location, dates and paid status on the individual current notice before applying.

Commercial and screen casting networks

GS Casting describes commercial, film, television, and branded casting services from Houston. Those service descriptions support categories to investigate, not a promise of available background roles.

Examples are general. Scene Seekers does not list or guarantee specific casting calls.
