Frequently Asked Questions
Answers about background acting, casting resources, and Scene Seekers.
Is Scene Seekers a casting agency?
No. Scene Seekers is an independent informational website. We do not cast, hire, or represent performers, and we do not guarantee opportunities.
Do I need experience to be an extra?
Many background roles don't require prior experience, but every production sets its own requirements.
How does Scene Seekers make money?
We may earn a commission when you purchase through our affiliate links, including links to our partner Project Casting, at no additional cost to you.
What if I can't find a guide for my city?
Our directory does not cover every production market. Your state or local film office can be a useful starting point for regional resources. General background-acting guides can help you evaluate casting notices wherever you live.
Does a casting listing guarantee a job?
No. Productions select performers according to their own requirements and schedules. Confirm the casting company's identity and follow its current instructions. Be cautious of anyone demanding payment in exchange for a guaranteed role.
