How to Become a Movie Extra With No Experience
A calm, practical walkthrough for complete beginners — from photos to your first booking.

Dallas–Fort Worth, Texas
The Fort Worth Film Commission’s own FAQ says many large-scale DFW productions work with Legacy Casting to source extras and points beginners to its MyCastingFile registration. Dallas and Fort Worth each maintain a film commission for the wider metroplex.

Legacy Casting says it is currently casting projects in Texas and Montana, with registration through the MyCastingFile database and a Dallas office phone line. The Fort Worth Film Commission recommends creating a MyCastingFile profile to view open casting calls and be considered for background roles.
Both cities support production directly: the Dallas Film Commission is an AFCI-certified commission serving as the central contact for Dallas-area production, and the Fort Worth Film Commission reports supporting more than a thousand projects since 2015, including series such as Landman and Lioness. The commissions also share casting opportunities on social media and point to the Texas Film Commission’s statewide Job Hotline.

Types of Opportunities
The Fort Worth Film Commission describes large-scale series and features filming in the metroplex and names Legacy Casting as a frequent extras source. This is context, not a list of open roles.
The commission separately directs performers interested in The Chosen to Brock Allen Casting. Individual productions may use their own casting companies.
The Texas Film Commission’s Casting Calls board covers the whole state. Check each notice’s filming location rather than assuming a DFW shoot.
Examples are general. Scene Seekers does not list or guarantee specific casting calls.
